Josephine Murray-Smith; UKCP Registered Psychotherapist.
I have the following qualifications;
Diploma in Humanistic Counselling, CTA, PTSTA, MSc in Psychotherapy.
I have been a practicing psychotherapist and counsellor in South and Central Edinburgh for the past 12 years. I offer Counselling, Psychotherapy and Supervision.
I am interested in helping my clients resolve issues that are holding them back in life, and I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where you can tell your story, and together we can explore your thoughts and feelings to help you gain a better understanding of who you are.
Often clients do not know what they want from therapy when they first come. You may be feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, restless, but something will have brought you here and this could be the start of a journey of self-discovery and understanding.
I believe in the significance of our unconscious patterns, as well as conscious ones, and I work relationally, keeping relationships at the heart of the work.
It is my belief, that early relationships and attachment patterns have a profound effect on how we interact with each other. Therapy can help you to break free of repeated and harmful patterns of behaviour which keep you locked into these relationship patterns, allowing you over time, to form much more intimate and meaningful connections.
I work with both individuals and couples, and the issues that my clients bring include Anxiety; Stress, Depression, Panic attacks, Trauma, Abuse, Self Harm, Suicidal thoughts, Bereavement, Personality Disorders and Bipolar Disorder.
I belong to the following Professional Bodies:
UKATA – United Kingdom Association for Transactional Analysis, ITAA – International Transactional Analysis Association, IARTA – International Association of Relational Transactional Analysis,UKCP – United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.
